Responsible play

This casino resort review covers hotels that share a site with a licensed casino in the United Kingdom. A spa day, a NEC exhibition, or a Knightsbridge weekend can include a gaming floor. It does not have to. Stay in the hotel, eat, and skip the tables if that is the better night. This page is for adults who choose to play and for anyone who needs a way out.

We are not a counselling service. If play is causing harm, use the national routes below. Do not wait for a reply from our editorial inbox.

Fourteen points

  1. Age. You must be 18 or over to gamble in Great Britain. Casinos will ask for identification. A hotel key does not replace a passport or driving licence. We mark casino resort review pages with 18+ for that reason.
  2. Licence. Land-based casinos in this country need a Gambling Commission premises licence. We link to the public register so you can see the operator name. Unlicensed play is not something we list.
  3. Time. Set a leaving time before you sit down. A 24-hour floor, such as some Grosvenor venues, makes it easy to lose the clock. Put an alarm on your phone and keep the room key for sleep, not for another round.
  4. Money. Decide a loss limit in cash or a withdrawal cap, and treat it as spent entertainment, not an investment. Do not chase a deficit with a second visit to the cashier.
  5. Alcohol. Many casinos serve drinks. Alcohol and complex table games mix badly. Stop playing if you cannot follow the layout of the bet.
  6. Credit. Do not borrow to play. UK operators should not offer credit for gambling. If a venue's practice worries you, walk away and report it to the Commission.
  7. Hotel packages. Stay-and-play chip offers are still gambling. Free or discounted chips can make a session feel costless. They are not. Read the operator's terms and do not treat a package as a reason to raise stakes.
  8. Self-exclusion. Multi-operator self-exclusion for casinos in Great Britain is available through SENSE (Self-Enrolment National Self-Exclusion). Ask at a licensed casino desk or read the Commission's guidance. A hotel stay does not override an exclusion.
  9. Online products. This casino resort review does not host slots or live dealers. If you also play online, use GAMSTOP for national online self-exclusion. A land-based exclusion and GAMSTOP are separate tools; you may need both.
  10. Talk. If family or colleagues say your casino visits have changed, take that as data. Speak to someone who is not on the gaming floor.
  11. Help now. GambleAware publishes advice and a directory of support: gambleaware.org. The National Gambling Helpline is 0808 8020 133 (England and Scotland) or 0808 2819 265 (Wales), 24 hours a day.
  12. NHS and local services. In England you can ask a GP about NHS gambling harms clinics. Scotland and Wales have their own pathways listed via GambleAware. Crisis support sits with the emergency services if there is immediate danger.
  13. Our role. We will not glamorise losses, publish "guaranteed systems", or imply that a hotel stay requires a casino visit. Listings exist so you can plan a trip with a real address. They are not a prompt to bet more.
  14. Contacting us. If a page on this casino resort review makes it hard to see the 18+ notice or the help links, email [email protected] and we will fix the layout. For personal support, skip us and use the helpline.
